The dirty dish water makes me laugh because that is how my mother has done dishes ever since I can remember, and its how her mother did them (she is right out of the heart of England). It is my NUMBER ONE pet peeve! I find it disgusting and refuse to even put my hands in it. haha It has became a huge joke within the family. If it wasn't midnight here, I would read through more of your posts right now! Looking forward to following :)

PS. I have just started a blog about my whole journey with joining the German family, which happens in two weeks! http://pinkparliament.wordpress.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8414936038335407469.post-89557713363601384372012-11-26T00:00:16.328+01:002012-11-26T00:00:16.328+01:00I can give you some insight into washing dishes. ...I can give you some insight into washing dishes. Dishwashing detergent is a surfactant. That is it lowers the surface tension of the water. Which helps the crud on the dishes to move away. Detergent doesn't really do anything in regards to killing bad stuff. It just aids in getting the crud to slide off the dishes so that bacteria can't grow on any remaining food particles. It's the rinse if anything that makes things antiseptic or somewhat antiseptic.

If the dishwater feels slippery it is still doing at least part of it's job.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8414936038335407469.post-18149485479812079042012-11-25T22:30:25.282+01:002012-11-25T22:30:25.282+01:00Tina, I understand your point with the dishes. Maybe you have notice that I always use some fresh water after I let them sink in the brown mass... It also grosses me out when people leave brown water and soap on the plates... Basically, he wife absolutely refused point blank to move to Hamburg (or anywhere that was further away from Karlsruhe than Stuttgart for that matter) and he couldn't find a job anywhere else. Obviously only seeing her husband at weekends was much better than living more than an hour away from her parents.bevchenhttp://confuzzledom.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
