Here's a blog post and some pictures I've been meaning to post since forever, but crazy neighbors and MRIs kept getting in the way.
Earlier this month, Al and I made the (in retrospect, extremely intelligent) decision to push our Poland trip back to October, due to the sheer amount of uni work we had to do. However, we wanted to go somewhere, so we decided to at least take a day trip to Kassel.
Kassel, for the record, is a shit city, but the Bergpark where we were is drop dead gorgeous and really, REALLY cool. It's just a giant giant park, with one big palace in the middle, then a smaller castle built to look like ruins, then a massive figure of Hercules you can hike up to. Which we did, in 95 degree heat, and almost died but it was totally worth it. There was also a funky troll bridge thing. All in all, it was a really good day!
Here, have some pictures!
I'm not sure what this was, but it was funny:
The hike up to the big palace
Yay!
More palace things.
Troll bridge!
Hercules...under construction.
The thing that's really cool about the Bergpark is that every day they send a ton of water from Hercules all the way through the park. After the water had stopped flowing, we were really hot, so we just jumped in the pools.
Looks like an infinity pool...
...actually just an allusion. The pools are stepped.
HERCULES!
Disney-like castle:
Bergpark is totally worth a visit, it comes highly recommended from me.
